*     SART statistics do not include patients > 40 years old AND are for the year 2007 only.

**   The Fertility and Gynecology Center’s statistics include all patients of all ages and are calculated for patients who undergo embryo transfers only.  This excludes patients who do not have embryos to transfer despite undergoing retrieval, patients who are cancelled because of a lack of response or patients who are cancelled because of any other reason.

*** On-going pregnancies are patients that are currently still pregnant past the initial four BHCG (pregnancy test) testing but not yet delivered.  Some patients may be past the 9 week gestation ultrasound and some have progressed beyond 12 weeks gestation.  Although patients may become pregnant in an IVF cycle, miscarriage can occur in up to 40% of all pregnancies including IVF pregnancies.

****  These are the percentage of patients that achieved pregnancy in their first attempt of IVF.

NOTE:  F&GC changed facilities in April 2008, after which pregnancy rates went up significantly.  The above numbers are from both facilities.  In the new facility, overall pregnancy rates were 56% with 50% ongoing.  Pregnancy / Delivery  rates by age were: <35 – 73% / 73%, 35-37 – 100% / 75%, 38-40 – 50% / 40%, 41-42  20% / 20%, 43+ 0%.
